"RADIO AUT-the voice of Peppino Impastato", is the title chosen by Pierpaolo Saraceno to commemorate the Italian journalist, activist and poet killed by the mafia in 1978. The show sees Mariapaola Tedesco and Pierpaolo Saraceno himself on the stage, who also signs it the text.
From the frequencies of Radio Aut, free radio founded in Terrasini in 1977, you could hear his dry, direct and sincere voice of a simple and humble man, but strong enough to challenge his own mafia family in his land, tormented by the mafia. . That man is Peppino Impastato, a great fighter and, above all, a great rebel spirit, killed, at the age of thirty, by order of the head of "Cosa Nostra", Gaetano Badalamenti (Don Tano), Peppino's favorite target on his broadcasts of Radio Aut.
it is in this precise context that the heavy complaints directed at the various components take place, subject to the strong power of the Cosa Nostra. To break all this chaos is the mother, Felicia Bartolotta, forced to suffer moral blows from her husband, Luigi Impastato, against her son.
Felicia tries in every way to divert Peppino to what he imagined would be his fate if he continued to report the abuses of the mafia. For this reason he tries to convince him to go to California, where family cousins ​​reside, but nothing to do: Peppino will continue to fight against the mafia for his own land, Sicily. land loved by many and "arricurdata" by many.
The stage environment is divided into two parts: on one side Peppino's mother who tells, with eyes full of love, the world of her son, his struggle, his strength of spirit; on the other, a series of flashbacks, which re-propose Peppino's life, his actions and, above all, his "voice".
