THE ORIGINS

Onirika del Sud  is a theatre company founded in May 2012, in Rome by Pierpaolo Saraceno.

Onirika del Sud, thanks to its own financial efforts, has planted roots in a basement in the borough of Monteverde in Rome. The company has never been financed with public money and its profit comes from their own shows or those produced by other theatres. Onirika Del Sud is made up of artists from different backgrounds who confront each other on different levels. For this reason no show is ever the same, but varies instead according to the situation, with scenes sometimes being adapted to the spaces. Our plays come not only from individual experiences, but also from a careful observation of everyday life mixed with ancient traditions and cultures of Southern Italy. Poetry, chaos, simplicity of emotion and a "dream-like" atmosphere are the main features that characterise our theatre.

Let's start from a very specific point: the simplicity of gestures and voice. What comes from one's instinct is what we aim to represent. Human truth told through great artistic technique. Reflecting on your life is what every actor has to do to fully release his soul, unhindered and shameless.

The final outcome is the start of an overcoming and breaking down of the rhythms of typical daily routine, so much so that it reaches beyond the senses. Every single theatrical work presented by us is nothing less than a “True Hypocrisy”, a lie actually told as it is heard. Our continuous artistic training leads us into harmony and empathy with our "different" spectator. Feel every single action and then turn it into words.

Just as we fight humbly in our infinite jungle every day, so we play every night as if stepping on the stage for the first time.
